UV Index ("the app") is developed by MrNick Apps. This privacy policy explains what data the app uses, how it is handled, and your rights.

Short version

UV Index runs entirely on your device. It does not require an account, does not upload your data, does not use third-party analytics that identify you, and does not sell or share your data with anyone.

1. Data the app uses

• Your location — used to fetch UV data for where you are. Location is used only for weather lookup and is not stored on any server operated by MrNick Apps.
• Your skin type and preferences — used to calculate sunscreen and tan timer recommendations. Stored locally on your device.
• Your exposure history — daily UV readings and timer sessions you have logged. Stored locally on your device.

We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information.

2. How location is used

The app requests location access ("While Using the App") to fetch the correct UV index for your location. Your coordinates are sent to a weather data provider (Apple WeatherKit on iOS, Open-Meteo on Android) to look up the current UV index — and immediately discarded. No location history is kept on any server we operate.

3. Data storage

All app data (skin type, preferences, exposure history) is stored locally on your device. It does not leave your device unless you explicitly share it via the built-in share sheet.

4. Third-party services

• Apple WeatherKit (iOS only) — UV data lookups. Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
• Open-Meteo (Android only) — UV data lookups. Governed by Open-Meteo's Terms.
• RevenueCat (iOS only, purchase management) — anonymous purchase state. Governed by RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

5. Notifications

The app schedules local notifications on your device for sunscreen reapply reminders and tan timer alerts. Notifications are handled by iOS or Android on your device. No notification content is sent to any server operated by MrNick Apps.

6. Purchases

On iOS, UV Index is a paid app purchased from the App Store. The purchase is processed by Apple. Anonymous purchase state is verified via RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous user identifier and your entitlement status only.

7. Deleting your data

Because UV Index stores all data locally on your device, deleting the app removes all data. There is nothing stored on our servers to delete.

8. Children's Privacy

UV Index is intended for users aged 12 and over (per the App Store rating). We do not knowingly collect data from children under this age.

9. Not medical advice

UV Index is an information tool. Sunscreen and exposure recommendations are approximations based on standard skin-type guidelines. Consult a dermatologist for skin-cancer risk assessment or personalized advice.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
